Once Upon a Line Editing is the product of my passion for editing and my desire to work at home while raising my family. As a young girl, my dream job was to be one thing—a mother. Most of my jobs through high school and college were nanny jobs. I spent years in college switching majors, trying to find my niche and something I could do while doing what I love most—be a mom. Finally, while pregnant with my first child and approaching the end of my college career, I realized I had another passion besides children—English grammar. I also realized that this passion of mine is a perfect fit for me and my personality, and allows me to work at home during the years I’m needed at home. I’m grateful to be able to pursue two dreams at once.
My passion for English grammar was first planted in me in my freshman year of high school. My English class had quite the reputation for its level of difficulty. The teacher was amazing, tough as nails, and adored by few. And I am one of those few. For the same reasons many students struggled in the class, I grew--because of them. The class challenged me and pushed me harder than any other class I've ever taken. My family nicknamed me after my English teacher from then on and quickly tired of my constant correcting their speech. Over the years I’ve learned that not everyone experiences the thrill that I do from understanding the many grammar rules of English. Go ahead. Call me a “grammar snob”!
With college behind me, I’m finally embracing my dream of editing. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in University Studies (not to be confused with general studies), a customized degree including clusters of elementary education, Spanish, and English editing & professional writing. I don't take my job lightly. I strive to take every opportunity to enlighten my clients of the reasons behind my edits in order to strengthen their understanding and improve their writing skills. I truly desire the success of my clients!
